Description
Situated just 20 meters from the main square and its 2 cafés in the village of Agios Prokopis, this property is well located – just a 10-minute drive from Corfu town and the airport and within easy reach of the wonderful west coast sandy beaches such as Agios Gordios and Glyfada and the 18-hole golf course in Ermones. Agios Prokopis itself is a picturesque, traditional village surrounded by olive groves and, with its known history dating back 700 years, is classed as a preserved settlement. The village is regularly visited by a variety of traders who sell their vegetables, fish, or bread direct to the residents, and the village also has easy access to all other amenities just 2.5km away.
The original property is believed to have been constructed at the end of the 18th century and has been sympathetically restored to create the attractive property it is today. The most recent restoration work, completed in 2020, was done under the guidance of a renowned restorer of Byzantine churches in order to retain and protect but also highlight its authentic Corfiot architecture and features.
An entrance gate from the road leads into a patio area of 14sqm – a great spot to sit, relax or dine whilst watching village life go by. The house itself offers 85 sqm of living space which includes a converted 25 sqm attic. Spread over 3 levels it offers comfortable modern living and comes complete with its carefully chosen furnishings.
The main entrance leads into the ground floor living space with a kitchen, dining area, and sitting room. This level also has the main bathroom and a storage area under the stairs. A wooden staircase leads to the first floor where there are two bedrooms – one currently furnished as a double and the other a single. There is a further small bathroom on this level. The converted attic is accessed via a staircase and can be used as a 3rd bedroom or for just relaxing – the attic window offers a lovely view of the lush green surroundings.
With its thick, almost 60 cm stone walls, the ground floor stays cool in the summer and there are electric radiators for the winter if required. The upstairs bedrooms are fitted with aircon units. Numerous windows mean the property is well ventilated and gets plenty of natural light.
